Finance Business Partner | Support Office

Job Role

We're looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our team.

Role Purpose: To play a critical role in supporting the strategic direction and financial performance of the Society by providing insightful financial analysis and guidance to key stakeholders. This role will involve partnering with various departments to drive financial performance, improve decision-making, and ensure the financial sustainability of the business.

 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

Business Partnering:

• Act as a trusted advisor to business units by delivering clear financial insights, risks, and opportunities.
• Work closely with departmental heads to understand their financial needs, develop financial strategies, and support them in meeting their goals.
• Challenge and support department leaders in driving business efficiency and cost control.

Strategic Planning:

• Support long-term strategic planning by providing robust financial models and scenario analysis.
• Assist in evaluating (both pre and post appraisal) new opportunities, investments, and capital projects to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.

 Financial Planning:

• Support the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts in collaboration with the Head of Commercial Finance and department heads.
• Own the Food Stores planning model (sales, gross profit & wages)

Financial Analysis:

• Monitor financial performance against plan and provide variance explanations and corrective action
• Provide detailed financial analysis and reports to support decision-making and performance improvement.
• Analyse trends, financial performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas of improvement.

Cost Management:

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and work on initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
• Review and challenge business expenditures to ensure resources are allocated efficiently.

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have:

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) is preferred.
• Proven experience in a finance business partnering role, preferably in a retail environment
• Strong financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting experience.
• Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
